I can be given but not taken,
Fought for yet never forsaken.
A right for all, both young and old,
A treasure greater than silver or gold.
What am I?

Brain Teaser:

Answers:
Riddle Answer: Freedom

Brain Teaser Answer:
The prisoner should ask either guard:
"If I were to ask the other guard which door leads to freedom, which door would they point to?"

Then, the prisoner should choose the opposite door.

Explanation:

  • If the prisoner asks the truthful guard, he knows the lying guard would point to the wrong door, so he directs the prisoner to the wrong door.

  • If the prisoner asks the lying guard, the lying guard would give the wrong answer about what the truthful guard would say, still pointing to the wrong door.

  • In both cases, the guard always points to the incorrect door, so the prisoner should take the opposite door to gain freedom.
